Welcome to Our College
Raja Birendra Chandra College, formerly known as Kandi Raj College of Commerce was
established on 16th August, 1965 in the premises of Kandi Raj College in the evening
shift under the affiliation of Calcutta University to cater commerce education to
the students of Kandi Sub- division and its adjoining area. Late Kumar Jagadish
Chandra Sinha (adopted son of Raja Birendra Chandra Sinha), the then President of
the Governing Body of Kandi Raj College of Commerce and the President of Raja
Birendra Chandra College Trust Fund donated Rs. 26000.00 (twenty six thousand only)
on behalf of the said Trust Fund at the time of establishment of college. The
college was renamed as Raja Birendra Chandra College of Commerce on and from 2nd
March, 1973. But gradually the number of Commerce students decreased. To retain the
sustainability of the college and to cater to the demands, general Arts stream at
the degree level was introduced in 1998. Later, Honours courses were introduced too.
In 2002, the college was renamed as Raja
Birendra Chandra College. Since 1998,
the college has been affiliated to the University of Kalyani. Nowadays, it is a
fully-fledged college of Arts and Commerce stream in the day shift. At present the
college offers 10 Major courses.
The college has been
recognized under section 2(f)
& 12(B) of the UGC Act 1956.The college has gone through the “NAAC” assessment
process and achieved B+ Grade with CGPA 2.61 on 29th November 2024 for the 1st
time(1st Cycle) in the life history of the college.
